District 9 is and has been, my #1 most-anticipated movie of the summer. Why? Because it’s unique. It’s mysterious. It is an unprecedented twist on the typical “alien invasion” concept that has been nearly bled dry by Hollywood. Do these aliens want to be here? Is their goal to enslave mankind and use up our natural resources? No. In fact, its the humans who are the oppressors in this Sci-Fi enigma. I believe this film will restore the movie-goer’s faith in this tapped-out concept. Oh and its viral marketing campaign is pretty sweet too.

As The Dark Knight shattered box-office records, genre definitions, expectations of future superhero films, earned eight Oscar nominations and consensual critical acclaim, we all can’t help but wonder what is in store for the inevitable third installment of  Christopher Nolan’s revived Batman franchise. The first and most pressing matter to address would be, whether or not Nolan will return to direct a third film and complete his trilogy. One could argue such a case, as he has displayed a similar filming pattern in the past.
