Nell is a distinguished leader in the independent documentary field, having designed and led celebrated fellowship programs and artist initiatives that foster innovation, support creative and professional growth, and enhance industry investment in the future of arts, entertainment, and culture.
As a funder, producer, executive, and festival programmer in Missouri, Montana, and Maine, she has extensive experience with legacy media companies, prominent arts nonprofits, and foundations such as NBCUniversal, Sundance Institute and the Jerome Foundation. Coming from a family with over 180 years of history in Minnesota, she is dedicated to serving the people of Minnesota and fostering a thriving film, television, and commercial ecosystem.
As Deputy Director, Nell will oversee the Film Production Tax Credit and other state film incentive programs and lead the department's overall marketing and communications strategy. In her role, she will manage a competitive entertainment incentive program and build relationships with industry professionals to promote Minnesota's economy.
