Nell is a distinguished leader in the independent documentary field, having designed and led celebrated fellowship programs and artist initiatives that foster innovation, support creative and professional growth, and enhance industry investment in the future of arts, entertainment, and culture.
As a funder, creative producer, executive, and programmer in Missouri, Montana, and Maine, she has extensive experience with legacy media, prominent arts nonprofits, film festivals and foundations such as NBCUniversal, Sundance Institute and the Jerome Foundation. Coming from a family with over 180 years of history in Minnesota, she is dedicated to serving the people of Minnesota and fostering a thriving film, television, and commercial ecosystem.
As Deputy Director, Nell oversees the Minnesota Film Production Tax Credit, leads the department's overall marketing and communications strategy, and builds relationships with industry professionals to promote Minnesota's economy.
